OUR CONFERENCES

Last  night we had our conferences  I had mine and my mum was really proud when we looked at my books. from Grace

My Mum and Dad were really proud of my art work in the multi-purpose room.My Dad wanted to know what we were going to do with them.Sven

My dad was soo proud of me that he had tears in his eyes! My mum was proud too but she didn't cry. They both loved our art in the multi-purpose room.Breanna

At my interveiw my mum and dad were really proud of my maths and handwriting they were very proud of my art too, my mun said that she does this kind stuff at high school!She also said that even she has trouble with some of my maths.my dad was very proud of me. my mum wanted a wind wand!They were proud of my national standards and the way I could explain my sheets.My challenges in the school holidays are fractions and decimals.Maxim.

I had my confrence at 6:00 and mrs Greenwood took a photo of me.Then we went to the multipurpose room and looked the art.my Mum and Dad liked the descripiton of me that Caitlin wrote, my Mum and Dad agreed I have a good personialty.I am going to practise my  writing and reading.harry.

I had my interview first-at 3:35pm on Thursday- and I'm not sure if Mrs Greenwood took a picture of me because I was focusing on the questions and answers. Caitlin!

At my interveiw I shared my roadfolder. My mum was really proud of me.
I was the second interveiw for Thursday.My next steps are to do decimals and read maps and also read fractions.

I had my interview on Thursday and my mum was proud of my national standard
sheet. She was really proud of how high I am with my maths, she nearly cried.Bonnie!

ART ATTACK

This week  our Multi Purpose Room is being turned into an art gallery.We are putting art up in the multi purpose room for the other classes and our parents to look at.This morning people were putting up signs to our wonderful art gallery.

We also have our Conferences so it is a busy week.

Fruit Hitz

Room 7 are selling Fruit Hitz to our friends and family.They are to raise money for an artwork for our school.Ethan and Maxim made up the order form.

Maori language week

We are learning Maori place names. kai-food koura-crayfish Kaikoura means a place to eat crayfish.

Papanui - means big plain
Waimakariri - means cold water river

New basketball goal

Mr Hack has made a new basketball hoop.It is very big and easy to take shots at the hoop and i can get in. It looks good. Thank you Mr Hack.    Sam

Gymnastics

Today we started gymnastics we had lots of fun with doing the rolls we all need to work on our backward rolls.

We are learning to develop coordination,develop flexibility,develop strengh and power and gain self esteem

soap carving

Yesterday room 7 did soap carving with Matua Miles we used a chizzle, a paint brush, knives and a sharp scraper.

Planking

On Monday 6 class members of Room 7 took some photos of planking.

Planking is when you lie on something flat with your hands beside your hips.

Book Character day

Today it is book character day and everyone has dressed up as a book character.
We had a parade in the multi purpose room instead of the court because it was cold and frosty. After the parade we had a group photo and we also had to say why we chose this book character.David

young leaders day

On the 1st of June 11 students went to young leaders day we all learnt lots about leaders and had a great day it was amazing.Zoe.

We all met Jason gunn , Christian gullen , Adam Hall , Alison mooney Ethan.

We learnt to never give up on your drem by adem hall.ethan h.

FittnessAthon

Today the 30 of may is our fittnessathon where we have to see how many times we can go around the fittness course in 15 minutes and it is very exciting for everyone.

 We have been doing collage picture frames using our picasa photos
and old things that we could glue on our frames we used bark , leaves
, buttons ,acorns , acorn hats, little
stones,pieces of old toy and lots more
bits that we have recycled.

Our pumice wreath

Wind Wand(s)

Our wind wands.

One is made of only pumice, and the other 2 are pumice and drift- wood, from Lake Taupo. Here is a picture of what they look like.

To make them, we needed the help of Mr. Hack to cut the logs in halves. Then we used a power drill to drill a hole for the pole to go through. Then we drilled holes through the pumice and drift-wood and slid them down the pole. We did it again and again until we ran out of it.Then we put them in the native bush as shown above.We learned that we can make funky things from Mother Nature!

Egg Vaccum

I wanted to find out what happens when I light a
piece of paper on fire and put it in a glass bottle or a jar and put a boiled egg with no shell on top.
I thought it would suck the egg through the bottle
without me touching it and it did but it did't go all the way through as I hoped it too .The egg gets sucked through because the fire and paper create
a gas vaccum .

My experiment was yeast I was doing my experment  to find out what kind of reaction it would make when I put yeast sugar and warm water togther. You need: yeast sugar warm water spoons and a large bowl. Meathed: put yeast into a large bowl add 1/4 of cup of warm water and 1 tespoon of sugar  then wait for 10 min then you might see bubbles. The bubbles you see are carbon dioxied. The yeast feeds of the yeast wich makes more yeast and more carbon dioxied that is why yeast is used in bread.

My experiment is called Naked Egg. Place egg and vingar in a jar and place in the fridge for 24 hrs.Remove from fridge, tip out vinegar and replace with fresh vinegar. Put in fridge for another 24 hrs.

Remove from fridge and rinse with water. The egg has lost it's shell and is rubbery touch.It has almost

turned clear.
