Helping Hannah

We have a big problem.Hannah in our class's wheelchair!!!!
We all get new desks and chairs in class as we get bigger but Hannah hasn't had a new wheelchair for years. We think this is dreadful.
She must be so uncomfortable in her small chair and she is getting sores on her back where it rubs.It is hard for Miss France and Mrs Stodart to get her in comfortably especially when she has her jacket and sweatshirt on.s getting too small for her.Hannah already has some disabilities and having a wheelchair too small is not helpT!!!

Hannah's Problem!

We are so concerned about Hannah's wheelchair and it being too small. We all want to get the best for Hannah because she has some disabilities and having a wheelchair too small is getting in the way.We asked the Health Department for a new wheelchair in August 2008!They said wait till 2010 and that is not urgent but it is.Hannah was had the same wheelchair since 2008!A new wheelchair will be a great Christmas present for her and it is her birthday in December too.

Room 7 love having Hannah as a class member. At the moment we are fighting for her to get a new wheelchair. We can't understand why she has to put up with the old chair.

Shocking news!!

Contaminated land just over our School fence!!

Have a look at this article in The Press.

Should we be concerned?

How can we prevent this happening in the future?

Napoleon Close was named after the farm owner's bull.Becmead Drive is named after Becmead industries the company that owned and farmed the land for 47 years. Also I found that Harewood is named after Lord Henry Thynne Lascelles the3rd Earl of Harewood{1797-1857}. Nunweek Park is named after Henry Nunwick or Nunweek.
by Grace.

On the end of Gardiners Road there used to be mushroom sheds. Across the road from my house there used to be a poultry farm owned by the Hussey's. Before Hannah S's house was built it used to be the Waimakariri river bed. There is now a road called Husseys Road and a road called Waimakariri Road. The Harewood area used to have lots of farms and market gardens.

We looked at the preschool in the old hall in front of our school. It is a very old building. We used to use it as our school hall before we got our Multi Purpose Room. The Hall is one of the original buildings in the Harewood area. Jack and Jayden

This term Room 7 are studying about our environment and what happens in our neighbours properties. We have a lotof interesting things going on over our school fence.
We want to find out how long they have been there for and what the land used to be used for.
We are interested in why the land use is changing.

Yesterday Hannah went to the dental nurse.Hannah had to open her mouth. They cleanend her mouth. She wore some glasses and the dental nurse gave her a book mark and some stickers.Abby came too. Hannah was very brave this year. The nurses are very kind.
It is good that the dental nurses come to Harewood to check our teeth and remind us about looking after our teeth.

sewing

We have all finished our sewing. Ashleigh G was being very very

kind and made two sewing pieces. She did two "By Room 7s" for the 123s and the ABCs books (thank you for that). We needed pins, needles, fabric, scissors, thread and maybe a thimble

We needed a case that we could fit every thing in .We are going to ask Mr Olliver - who is a cobbler, to sew the pages together because Miss France's sewing machine can't cope with all the pages.
