Maori language week
We are learning Maori place names. kai-food koura-crayfish Kaikoura means a place to eat crayfish.
Papanui - means big plain
Waimakariri - means cold water river

Aren't Maori place names very interesting? Do you know what Waimakariri or Papanui mean?
