Breanna

I"m doing the experiment because i want to find out what travels faster, water, vinger, oil or milk.

I predict that the water will travel faster because it is thinner.

Invisible Ink By Alec

I was trying to find out how the lemon juice reacts to the heat. The lemon juice is acidic and weakens paper.I was right that the lemon juice needed sunlight for 2 hours. When the paper has dryed you need to heat it under a candle or a flame so it turns pale brown and you can read it.The ingredients are lemon or lemon juice, sunlight or heat sauce,a cotten swab and paper.

Tornado of colours -Maxim

My experiment is called tornado of colours,
I wanted to find out what happens when you put dish wasing liquid into milk.

you will need:
1. 2  plates
2.Milk
3.Dish washing liquid
4.Cotton buds
5 food colouring

1Pour enough Milk to cover the bottom of the plate.

2put food colouring into the milk.

3Soak cotton buds in dish washing liquid.

4Dip the cotton bud in the centre of the plate.

There is no need to stir milk-it will immediately start spinning.

What happens is the dish washing liquid mixes with the fat of the milk and starts spinning.

kitchen chemistry

My experment was yeast I was doing my experment  to find out what kind of reaction it would make when I put yeast sugar and warm water togther. You need: yeast sugar warm water spoons and a large bowl. Meathed: put yeast into a large bowl add 1/4 of cup of warm water and 1 tespoon of sugar  then wait for 10 min then you might see bubbles. The bubbles you see are carbon dioxied. The yeast feeds of the yeast wich makes more yeast and more carbon dioxied that is why yeast is used in bread.  Grace

This is me doing my kitchen chemistry that is called Gas it was so cool when the balloon blew up. I made my poster over the weekend and brought it back on Monday. The ingredients were vinegar, baking soda, bottle, balloon and a funnel. It took a long time to find on the internet. Then it took a long time to get organised and bring to school. My vinegar leaked in it's bag with the other ingredients and my mum had to shut the lid on the vinegar. Ashleigh Cridge.

Sam's Volcano

I am going to make  volcano. I  need abottle some baking soda and vinegar.

i think it is going to erupt because there will be a reaction because all the air that is carbon dioxid will push it up.

Ruapuna Raceway duathlon

I felt very proud to represent Harewood School at the duathlon. It was very tiring - it felt like I was going to die. I was so tired! It was really hard but I had fun. On the 1km run I poured water on my head- it kind of cooled me down. I had to sweat it out so I could run. At the end I got really cold so my Dad went to go and get my jacket. it was awesome I got 30th in the duathon.SVEN!

I felt proud to wear the Harewood School sports t-shirt and represent Harewood. Right when I was about to get off my bike I fell off. There was 468 children there. It was definitely worthwhile because I came 31st. It felt like I was going to die I was so tired.HARRY!

It is now 2 weeks since the earthquake that has changed our city. It is hard to recognise some places when we look at the photos on the Tv and in the paper.
What is incredible is the way people are still being so generous and helping each other out.Everyone is trying to get things done as quickly and efficiently as possible.
people are being so strong and finding the positive in situtaions.
There are some very good pieces of writing from Harewood pupils on
the "When My Home Shook" web site. If you haven't written a recount of what happened have a go now. Miss France

EARTHQUAKE UPDATE

Hi to everyone from Room 7 and following our blog.
What a week we have had in our city.We are so lucky that our side of the city was not hit so hard but we have all got a few breakages and are trying to get things back together again.

We are all feeling for those badly affected.

It is just great to see so many people helping each other and supporting the community.

My washing machine has been doing overtime washing clothes belonging to the wonderful Australian medical staff and ambulance drivers staying at the Burnside Rugby Clubrooms. It's the least I can do- how about you- what are you doing to help others?

Take care

Here is a great little poem to keep in mind for 2011

My Promise

Each day I'll do my best,
and won't do any less,
My work will always please me,
and I won't accept a mess
I'll colour very carefully,
my writing will be neat
and I simply won't be happy,
"til my work is all complete
I'll always do my homework,
and I'll try with every task
and I won't forget my promise--
to do my very best!
