Sewing hearts for Harewood

We are making hearts out of fabric. We are learning to sew as part of our art.

My heart looks cool . I am going to try my best at sewing.I learnt to use little stitches in my sewing.Isaiah

Room 7 are making hearts for the sewing and lots of people come to help as with our sewing we got the idea for the Canterbury museum.

I learnt how to sew a heart by my self and tie a knot.Caleb .

I learnt how to sew a heart  because I learnt how to tie a knot and how to turn your heart inside out and stuff it.Liam

When I was sewing I learnt how to tie knots. I also learnt how to turn my heart
inside out and turn it back over to stuff it.we(Rm7) had Lot's of nans
and mums to come help us and it was really helpful I am on my third heart

I have learnt how to stitch my heart together and get my stuffing in the hole. i learnt how to put my heart inside out and i also learnt that you need a lot of sewing supplies for sewing.  I learnt how to sew a heart and how to sew a little fluffy ball onto it. The hardest part about sewing is to put the decorations on the heart and then put the heart inside out.but the even harder part is to put needles in just to sew it together and then take them out.Cadence

I  learnt it that it is imported that you do  to do little stitches to keep the stuffing in.Ethan

I learnt that you can sew one thing on top of another.On my heart I stitched on one pom pom on top of another.Harry!!!!!!!

This year I learned how to tie off at the end of my cotton and that it's really easy to sew your

finger without noticing!!!!!!!! I have sewn 3 hearts already.Caitlin

I learnt how to sew 3D hearts with decorations like buttons,ribbons,fabric,feathers and cotton to make a pattern.It is really fun and easy.Bonnie

Skiing Mt Hutt

We had the BEST day!
We all met at school at 7:15a.m and left at 7:30a.m.
We travelled through big fields and rocky roads to get to Mt. Hutt. It took about 1 and a half hours.
When we all got out of the bus, we stepped onto slippery snow.Caitlin.


Most of us fell over but we thought it was fun.

Lots of us were beginners but I was an intermediate.Harry

Here we come Mt Hutt

We are so exited about going to Mt Hutt to go skiing!
Tonight we have to get ALL of our ski gear ready or else we won't be able to go!!!
We will need: gloves, a jacket or 2 (definitely), goggles or sunglasses, long woolly socks, poly-pros
and maybe even a second pair of socks.We will also need a fully packed lunch because we will
definitely work up an appetite!!!!Caitlin

Come onnnnnn!, I wish tomorrow came quickly cause our class is going to Mt Hutt!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will need:waterproof pants and jacket, waterproof gloves,a HUGE lunch,a helmet,a warm hat, some long socks and a spare change of clothes because your other ones will get wet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so excited to go to Mt Hutt tomorrow tonight we have to have all are ski gear you HAVE to have a water proof-jacket water proof gloves you need sunglasses or goggles I hope i  don't get Wet!!!!!.Liam

 We get given our ski boots skis and also our ski poles at the mountain. The thing I'm least looking forward to is falling over. My brother went skiing and he fell over lots!!!!!! hahaha Chloe!!

Elizabeth is showing us the sound of a baby in its mums body. The sound was very fast. Tahlia is having a boy.Elizabeth the midwife used a sonic aid to hear the baby's heart beat.

Bookmarks

Today on the 14 of September 2011 our Bible In Schools teacher gave us these bookmarks and they have got cute little dogs on them and a little prayer that says be still and know that I am god.

Mrs Phipps our Bible In Schools teacher teaches Room 7 about our Harewood School values and that we are sharing and caring and teaches us about God and Jesus and how we are made and God loves us all and you believe in God. She also teaches us about loving our neighbours as much as we love ourselves.She also teaches us about how jesus died on the cross and sometimes our topic that we are learning. We also get to do some puzzles that she gives us about the bible and also God and jesus.
Room 7 all got bookmarks and they are all different colours.We put them in our books so they don't get lost.They are different on both sides.The other side is plain with stripes.They are there to use as a bookmarks not as a toy they are also metal magnets so they won't break.-Alec

The book I am reading at the moment is  Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Ugly Truth the author is Jeff Kinney the books about two kids named Greg and Rowley and they have been fighting a lot and there facing the ugly truth I recommended it for boys and girls of the age of 9-12 because it is a humorous fiction book. Liam

 The book I'm reading at the moment is February Conspiracy 365 the author is Gabrielle Lord.It is about a 15 year old boy named Callum Ormand. The police are after him because they say he murdered his family. I recommended this series of books for girls and boys age 9-13.Toby

The book I'm reading is called Diary of a Wimpy Kid the ugly truth this book is a international bestseller! It's about Greg he had a big fight with Rowely in the summer and now he's trying to get Rowely to be his best friend again but he has to face the Ugly Truth him self, the author is Jeff Kinney.

The book I'm reading is The Mouse Island Marathon it's about Geronimo entering a marathon because his friend Champ Strongpaws had entered him and couldn't stop it. When the marathon started he thought he would lose but he actually came first in the end, The author is Geronimo Stilton which is his pen name.David

The book that I'm reading is called Dog Days from Jeff Kinney it's all about Greg and Rowley trying to pay off the bill for Rowley's dad and Greg's family is getting a dog. Greg gets scared a of a muddy hand
that crawls around stealing peoples souls but my favourite page is page 99 it has a picture of Greg and it says your child and constipation but I think it's a very good book. Dion


I am reading Diary of a Wimpy kid Rodrick rules. The author of this book is Jeff Kinney. It is about Greg when his parents go away and his brother Rodrick has a party. But Greg can't tell his parents about the party otherwise Rodrick will tell everyone Greg's little secret. Meanwhile Rodrick has to prepare for the talent show and on the big night, a surprise makes his band famous. I recommend this to
8-14 years old. Ben

My book is called the invisible dog, it's about a little girl who wants a dog, she's not allowed one so she pretends one is on a leash and walks it around. This book is written by Dick King Smith.I recommend this for 6-11 year olds. Breanna!


My book is called JUST STUPID!! it is written by Andy griffiths!
It is about a boy who dreams that he's busting and his lace gets caught in the escalator on the way to the toilet!! and his pencils fall down in it which causes it to start a fire and he is still busting but the fireman that comes to save him says it's
to dangerous but then he wakes up and finds out that he was dreaming.I think its very humorous and I recommend it for ages of  9-16-chloe!

My book is called LOST AND FOUND!!!!! It is written by Andrew Clements who also wrote Frinde it is about when Jay and Ray were twins when they were born.Mikayla

My book is called dead funny and it is written by Moya Simons and it is about Danny Thompson has a hard time explaining to Mandy Miller how her secret (the one she told him) has gone around the whole school.But he's not the only one with problems.

In our class we are reading a book called  Frindle by Andrew Clements.In the book a kid was told about how words came about. 

So in class today our teacher told us to bring a Frindle down. I did but I also brought a Frincil down or the old word pencil. And that's how I came up with the Frincil.

Hearts for Christchurch

On Friday 2  September we all went to the re opening of the Canterbury museum . CTV came to interview some of us I got interviewed. Also the Press and Mainland newspaper came to take pictures of us looking at the hearts for Christchurch. We found hearts from all over the world some from Scotland some from England. All the hearts looked wonderful the way they were displayed was great. Te Papa museum in Wellington helped to display all the hearts. Zoe

On Friday 2nd September, Room 7 went to the Canterbury Museum. We all looked at the new birds section in the museum and we were so glad that we saw that.We looked at the hearts in the museum that the people from overseas and different cities in New Zealand made. When we were doing that, the CTV people came and interviewed some people. They also took photos of us. It was an amazing day! Bonnie

The museum trip was really good. I was interviewed for the CTV news channel about the heart I was drawing - for the class hearts. My favorite thing was the Room of Hearts. When I walked in there, I was gobsmacked! There were so many! Caitlin

The museum trip was really good,my favorite thing was the bird hall, it had sooo many different types of birds there. I saw the bell bird there [that's the bird i was studying]Female & Male.They were beautiful birds and are still living now.Breanna

 the museum  trip was a really good  we got to see the heart that people made for us.There was over 4000 hearts.It was so awesome because CTV news were there they interviewed  some people.

My  favourite thing about the museum was the hearts for Chch I was scribbling down my design for our sewing.There were also designs made out of felt!! and we did felting in term 2 or 3.

My favourite part of the museum was the hearts because we got to be in the newspaper and be on CTV tonight.I AM SO EXCITED.Mrs Harris had all the hearts in her bedroom and there were 4,000 hearts and she lives in Napier.Alec

My favourite heart was the big red one in the front when you walk in, because it was big and bright and colourful.Sven!
